    English Grassroots Return

The pyramid group (or whatever their proper name is) are aiming to restart the Lowland, East of Scotland, West of Scotland, and South of Scotland leagues from the end of September. They’re also aiming for training from the start of August. If that gets the go-ahead then I reckon that amateur...

    English Grassroots Return

I wouldn’t rule it out - many teams in the East of Scotland league up here (tier 6&7) have had their players agree to no wages for the time being.

    Brig v Man Utd

Maybe it could be clarified in the same way that a handball leading to a goal has been clarified this season (i.e. “immediately” before)

    Cry v Bur

It’s the glance beforehand that sold a red for me - Ayew knew what he was doing. I personally couldn’t believe they spent so long looking at it and didn’t change the on-field decision.

    English Grassroots Return

With the education secretary announcing today that social distancing won’t be necessary in Scottish schools when they return in August, I reckon grassroots football up here might return earlier than the January date previously mentioned.

Matteo Guendouzi will face no further action over Neal Maupay incident

Sheffield Utd are 7th and Arsenal are 10th - dunno if Arsenal are really the elite. 🙂

    RA’ and lower levelled referees

To be honest I don’t think this season will be the same as usual. In the last year, I’ve been able to participate in practical sessions at training, and coaching is done at the RA meetings that are 5x per season. But obviously these kind of things aren’t possible just now though.

    Spurs Utd

Reading a couple of posts you seem to imply he isn’t fit enough for the EPL though - despite passing the fitness test.

    Nor v S'Ton

Maybe yeah. If the BBC don’t do the fake crowd, I’ll be able to compare it after tomorrow night.

    Villa v Blades

Numerous times over the last 7 years we have seen goals given that were millimetres over the line. There’s no way the officials knew for definite that those goals had crossed the line - however the technology said it had, it was trusted, and ultimately was right. Surely those goals shouldn’t...

    Nor v S'Ton

Got to agree. I was watching it on Pick so didn’t even have the option of switching channel though.

    Showing immediately the referee signal

Occasionally, usually just after half-time, I’ve ended up forgetting who is attacking where at thrown ins. In these situations I’ve just shouted, for example “blue ball”, and then worked out where to signal after that.

    Luiz red

When you see it like that, it’s an easy DOGSO.

    Villa v Blades

Spot on. There’s been some incredibly tight decisions over the years, so I have absolutely no criticism of the on-field officials. I certainly wouldn’t want to go against the technology in the first game back in 3 months.

    Villa v Blades

VAR yes, I can’t see why they’ve not given it - they really should be. However, it would take a HUGE call for any of the 4 on-field officials to go against the technology which has never yet failed. How would they explain it if the technology showed half a millimetre of the ball hadn’t crossed...

    Wanna be ref

For u13 and older I give foul throws, although I’ll say to them what’s being done wrong if, for example, their foot is 3ft in the air. Ultimately I don’t believe they’ll learn how to take a throw in unless they’re pulled up for it when they’ve done it wrong, but I still want to help them (the...

How long before Coronavirus impact on Football is over?

Anyone I’ve spoken to near me thinks the EPL is deluding itself by thinking this season can be completed

    Simulation but not really simulation

I feel it would draw unnecessary attention towards me which I wouldn’t want. Stewards wear luminous yellow as fans do need to know who they are.

    Simulation but not really simulation

I don’t think I’d fancy wearing the luminous yellow kit though 😀
