I let players know I'm happy with shoulder tackles as long as excessive force isn't used and blocking the ball in the corner - I also let them know that I'll be quick to the cards and I don't have much problems managing tackles as most players understand what I'm looking for.
I usually include this as part of my prematch talk when doing games - inform all players you're happy enough for slide tackles (and describe other physical contact you're happy with) however also reiterate that any tackles deemed to be careless, reckless or dangerous will be penalised...
As others have said report this as soon as possible, no one should have to undergo this during a match (especially not in an U8 match - correct me if I'm wrong although is this level even competitive yet? I thought the idea of U8 was 'fun of the game').
In my opinion though (based on what I'm...
Wasn't there a thread on here a few weeks/months ago regarding some referee's wearing hats etc during play? Personally I don't have an issue with gloves or leggings to wear during the winter and if I saw someone else doing it I probably wouldn't even notice. Why can players do it to keep warm...
If this happened to me I'd laugh it off with the player and continue play although it makes me wonder why the referee believes he's been deliberately tripped? Was he having a bad game/tough time off of Diego Carlos throughout?
Disgusting comments being made there about officials and what bugs me the most is that whenever a player makes a mistake - lets say an own goal (that's roughly the same as one of us giving a penalty which shouldn't have been a penalty) they aren't spoken about as being a poor standard.
I've been watching various different people recently and everyone seems to have a different routine.
Personally mines is a few jogs between the touchline and half way line with some sprints - mainly no set routine and no stretching although other refs seem to be more structued.
What do you do...
Competition rules should always be followed regardless of what both coaches want. However, if the adult net was not available I'd have both coaches sign the teamline that they've agreed to use smaller nets and then report in a match incident form - this way as described above the losing coach...
Red card for me, doesn't even attempt to play the ball (not to mention the ball is impossible to play). I'd be YC if he attempted to get the ball and simply tripped his opponent however in this scenario he kicked his opponent.
We'll have this same scenario in Scotland soon if we do introduce goal line technology as not all teams will be able to afford it. I suppose the same answer for the FA Cup would need to be considered here too.
Thanks everyone for all your advice.
I do track what I’m eating and I have lost two stone thanks to it (I’m not just starting out unfortunately although I wish this was my starting weight) and it appears to have just been stuck in a rut now.
I’ve restarted the couch to 5k program although this...
My free training session at the gym the PT told not to go above 160 when doing high intensity based on my weight (I'm just under 20st). I'm also 20. Maybe this is wrong?
At the moment, I do the gym 4 days a week (Mon Tue Thu Fri) and then we have training on a Wed. At the gym I mainly do...
I was wondering if you could provide me with some tips on improving my overall fitness as a referee. I find that during training my jog speed (which I can run endlessly and still have a conversation at) is almost half the speed of everyone else – even people with a bit more ‘junk in the trunk’...
Maybe it's different in England but shouldn't you have had a second colour of top to wear to avoid clash also? In Scotland, we need to bring two different colours (black and a colour) to avoid clash if one of the teams can't change.
It's different, up here all of our reports go to the league unless it's a pro-youth, junior or senior game here - that's when it goes directly to the association.
I use the watch on my left arm as a stopwatch and the watch on my right arm as a reference to the real time (e.g 3pm ko). Whenever I need to stop the clock, I simply pause the stopwatch then start it again when play restarts - once the stopwatch reads 45 (or whatever the duration of your half...
