    Liverpool vs Everton

Don’t think he handled the situation with Nunez and Pickford very well. Should have left Nunez to be treated off the field and got himself and all the players back playing from the free kick, but it certainly wasn’t an easy game to keep a lid on which he did for most of the game.

    Kent cup ref highlits

Thanks for that but reading the guidance it appears to be aimed more at safeguarding issues. My concerns with this film is the Ref Bashing contained within. But thanks for directing me to the guidance 👍🏻

    Kent cup ref highlits

Would they have permission to film and then post publicly? Even as a walking football referee I encountered a team filming county league matches. I informed them they could film for their own training purposes but they did not have my personal permission to post it anywhere publicly.

    U15'S

Where is the keeper walking to and from, off the pitch to collect the ball? If so just stop your watch and make a show of it so everyone knows no time is being wasted.

    Arsenal vs Chelsea

A rubbish game full of everything wrong with high level professional football, play acting, petulance, disputing decisions, surrounding officials. And yes I’m an Arsenal follower! Re the penalty claim too high on the arm ?

    Football now vs past

Having watched 2nd v 3rd just now in the Premiership I think it was definitely more enjoyable watching Grimsby Town battle re election in Division 4 in the late 60s with my Dad and Grandad! Tactics and deep defending with 5 and 6 across the penalty box is a trifle boring.

    Everton vs Man Utd

The contact is there… I take it you mean two shirt pulls? That to me is still a foul and warrants the award of the penalty.

    Everton vs Man Utd

For me when we (referees) award a penalty we are 100% certain about that decision at that moment in time. Doubt may creep in due to player reactions, but when we blow that whistle we are certain( whatever level we officiate at) So looking at this incident the referee is certain that he saw an...

Open Age Poor decision and how to improve

I read this and looked back in time the my experiences as a NAR in the UCL around 15 years ago (much has changed I know) but is it not a matter of knowing your place? Did you approach the referee after the game to get their thoughts? If you had perhaps you may not have felt the need to make this...

    Everton v Liverpool

Who’d be a referee! Didn’t watch the game live but watched the extended highlights this morning knowing already about a lot of the incidents. It must have been a horrible game to referee and MO was never going to please all of those watching (supporters of either team or watching non biased...

    Respect handshake

I doubt that it is true that it’s had more of a negative impact than a positive one. I agree it is very ceremonial but you can’t measure (as it is totally unknown) whether it does have any impact on players mindset. It’s probably had it’s day now though. Football unfortunately cannot shake...

    Birmingham vs Newcastle

To assume the AR saw daylight from the position he was in when the ‘save’ was made cannot be factored in to this. At the point of contact he was still not in line with the goal line (and nor would you expect him to be) so to have seen daylight the ball would have needed to be far more over the...

    Referee Injury

My calf pinged after about 15 mins of a game whilst being observed for a 6-5 promotion some years back now. Game was already feisty and had 2 very young assistants on each line. Soldiered on game got worse, cards galore, got slaughtered by the assessor in front of the young assistants, left some...
