Fourth season and I have had one abondonment 2 seasons ago. Do you think that your tolerance for dissent is too high? To go from zero to swearing from the players is unusual although can happen. Maybe earlier cards in your game are needed. Could you ask some one from your local RA or another ref...
If it looks like a card and smells like a card it is a card. As a new ref it is hard to caution but as soon as you have done a few it becomes second nature
I never said I wouldnt caution at under 11 but I haven't. I rarely do those younger age groups, but I have no issues at cautioning in youth football, and will regulary turn off to grounds and hear the sit here keep your mouths shut you know what he is like, despite in my first observation I was...
lets not crucify a young ref here. If he is under 16 and only doing it 4 months this will include a lot of the summer as he has only just qualified. No cards in 4 months. Summer tournaments for younger age groups rarely happen and if he is doing U11s regulary there is not often cautions are...
Penalty first one no.
Second incident nailed on
Third incident I laughed out loud as it seemed to players caught the ball the second was very obvious
fourth incident nailed on again.
At least if I have a mare it is unlikely to make it onto youtube or TV.
Do have sympathy for the ref who was...
Had one observation It went well but after 3 weeks still not published so can;t reference it. Had an unofficial observation from a ref who happened to be supporting his local team. Got some good tips on better positioning and told when there is a big stoppage ie long injury do not put my hands...
I use mine as a guide. If I am down on distance it could be due to the game it could be hot, but I do tend to be with in the same range for all different age groups. ie OA 5.5 U18s 5 etc
Mine is pretty much the same as Ref Jef except we do not have to do a fitness test, although having to do it to see where you have to be is a great idea. So many refs go for promotion but fail the fitness test from 5-4. If i ever progressed that far I would start training when I was going for 5...
every weekend I get lots of texts emails and phone calls. Already had one text and one call for this weekend and I am doing 3 middles and one line, although one middle is U14s.
Im with Big Cat on this. 3 years of games, this season I have had an observation and an unofficial observation when a ref who happens to be watching gave me some great advice at half time which I managed to implement in the second half.make sure you are ready to go for it. It is a great way to...
In Suffolk 20 games 6 can be U18s. three observations, you need to be doing lines but not observed on them. This is my fourth season and I am now going 7-6 I have done alot of games so hopefully will get it. My first observation went well but my tolerance is too high despite my c2 card tally...
with mini soccer communication is the key as they are still learning the game. By explaining signals by saying them as well will not only help you but help them learn what the signals are. Good luck for Saturday. Under nines just like herding cats:)
