    First Veterans fixture (over 35)

Very enjoyable. Very one sided scoreline which didn't fully reflect the quality of the losing side. As was suggested, some good football played in good spirits with a good level of banter. Perfect.

    First Veterans fixture (over 35)

Yes. I was in Taunton and managed to avoid the rain. A light drizzle was the worst I had to contend with.

    First Veterans fixture (over 35)

Really helpful. On it from the start. 👍🏼 A nice U16 fixture to follow that one.

    First Veterans fixture (over 35)

Hi folks I'm doing my first Vets fixture tomorrow. From those that that have done these before, what are player expectations in these? It's a County Cup so I can afford to be quite tight to LOTG, but any views on what teams expect would be good to hear.

    Flashing cards quickly

You don't. I think you got lucky. I'm a but more relaxed when I'm confident in my team sheets. If not it's the full process, especially if it is a red. I don't want to be wandering around at the end of the match mopping up admin.

    Red Card for rolling substitute

Was he on the pitch when he was given the card? If he hadn't been subbed at that point then they are down to 10. If the substitution had been completed then he can not be subbed again still 11 on the pitch. This is why you still need to manage the substitutions even for rolling subs. One off...

    Throw Ins

"Ugly but legal gents. We can't penalise ugly." Add in any other bon mots you fancy. Normally gets the message across and a giggle too.

Hints and Tips to Refereeing The Same Team

"Thank you for your help player. I know you are going to disagree with every decision that doesn't go your way, so I'll take that as a given from now on. There's no further need to tell me and we'll just get on with the game." Next time you can get the captain involved, "all questions through...

    Forest v Wolves

They could, but I suspect that isn't a likely outcome of this decision.

All of your reputations are known far and wide. Good effort lads!

    Strange how things turn out.

You can if you want. The team today just felt it was "all about me" and I ruined a game. Well... I am fabulous, so I won't lose any sleep over it! "****ing ****. All referees are ****ing ****". 🟥 I did it to protect your honour guys... I won't have them talking about you like that. 😉

    Full-Time website error

I often use the Full-Time site to keep an eye on upcoming league fixtures and ref appointments, but recently there has been a persistent error and I would be interested to see if it is just me. When I have a league selected I often use the 'Next 7 days' or 'Next 30 days' feature in the date...

    Referring my first game

Get the simple stuff right to start with. Get your bag ready the night before. Arrive in plenty of time - at least 30mins. Be confident on the outside even if you don't feel it on the inside. Speak to the coaches and introduce yourself. You don't need to let them know it's your first game...

    Junior/Youth Sleep on it.

That's often the problem of trying to manage it. When you try and even it up things can start to drift. Giving the caution is easier to manage in terms of 'evening it up' as behaviour of the players will normalise towards fewer fouls rather than heavier challenges. If you let one go and then...

    Overruling the Lino

@OldNavyRef that is a quality overrule there. I'd have gone with the CAR but you got that spot on.
