SkySports reporting of the proposed new IFAB laws

Doesn’t look like they are looking at the goalkeeper issue and yet it’s important to get dealt with. Also, I think they need to bring back goal kicks taken from the side of the fop where the ball went out - just like corner kicks. The idea that current law speeds things up didn’t work.

Can an AR help like this?

I wonder what an Observer would have made of it. You were very brave to administer a red with both teams surprised, but as you say, you have seen a clip & are comfortable with the decision you made. For me, if I hadn’t seen what you had seen, then I would have asked you some questions including...

Foul Throw – How strictly do you call it?

At the game between Stoke & Oxford last night (I think it was very soon after the Sheffield Utd v Coventry game finished with an earlier kick off), AR signalled a foul throw & Referee supported. Player incensed and clapped the AR along with some dialogue towards him & the Referee, whereby the...

    Atalanta v Dortmund

Although changing the game, but the same topic, I was at a Contrib game last Saturday when a similar incident occurred just before half time close to/within the centre circle. Away goes to head the ball, whereas Home attempts to play it with a raised foot, but made contact with the Away player...

    Juve Vs Galatasary

Definitely agree with all of that. I have been saying to many people over a long period of time that there are some world class Referees in Europe & around the World, but few & far between & spectators should be mindful of what they wish for when they complain about PL Referees. Why on earth it...

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Pathetic really, especially when the opponent’s can hear it (& observers!!)

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Many Managers are annoyed with 30 seconds especially when they concede a goal so they will be even madder now, but they have brought it upon themselves, though it’s a shame they haven’t done anything about the goalkeepers, which is becoming silly now with the amount of occurrences

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

I was Observer at a game when the comms was perfectly fine when all 4 officials left the changing room, but when they arrived pitch side, one just failed to work. Of course at NL N they just got on with it without it.

    Problem with Buzzers

Changing the subject but just perhaps a funny thing (for some), very many years ago I had a Ford Escort and whilst driving there was a vibration within dashboard that used to drive me nuts (especially when it was brand new), so much so I took it back under its warranty. Of course they had to...

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

    Ok - thanks for clarifying.

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

    That’s good news.

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

Not sure why this is the case because it is known that the comms kits for PGMOL are well thought of, whereas those on NL N&S have almost first generation comms which very often fail or fail for some - but can still be of help & gives them good grounding when they do fail etc.

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

True, with Gabrielle doing what many Arsenal players do, make a meal of it, but i think VAR was always going to rule that out.

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

Yes, im sure that would be the case - if the message from the IT people is we can’t fix it, then game would go continue without it. I suppose the question is - how long is reasonable before that happens in one of the biggest football events of the year, especially as far as North London is...

    Tottenham vs Arsenal

Agreed. This sort of thing is frustrating with IT, but has happened before & we all know they are going to delay until sorted out & he knows that. If that was Man Utd and they carried on without VAR to a goal that should have been disallowed he would have been furious. Also, if IT failed towards...

    City v Newcastle

This is what a set-pieces coach have brought to the game - an unlawful rather than skill/clever lawful approach, albeit it on this occasion it was a defensive rather than attacking situation.

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Yep, nearly 4 hours to play a 90 min game! lol!

    Tactical Injury Breaks

Another example tonight in Blackburn v Preston NE, when Away’s goalkeeper went to ground with about 5 mins of stoppage time to go. Usual thing, he didn’t look injured & outfield players to the TA to receive instructions. However, good thing was they concede the only goal of the game with 20...

    Wolves v Arsenal

True, though I was at a Contrib game last Saturday & the player who was the most pain in in the rear was Home’s Captain!!

    Wolves v Arsenal

Every game I have been at as an observer the Referee has done throughout, with no requirement to penalise the goalkeeper. So it does work if/when used.
