Nice conspiracy theory. Doesn't really work though given Argentina got 5 yellow cards and a red, and Spain had zero cards.

I'll be trying to get tickets but in Euro 24 I entered the lottery for ten matches (before teams had even been allocated) and got ZERO tickets.

I have never cheered a goal for a team I have no affiliation with so much.
What a horrible, nasty bunch of people the Argentinian team are. That nasty way of playing is in their DNA, and I genuinely think I’d rather be England and have defensively bottling it in our DNA.

Barco actively celebrated in our players faces on Wednesday and yet tonight their players swung a punch at a completely innocent Spaniard running past him to celebrate.
Enzo - imagine feeling hard done by to be sent off.
1st caution for a ridiculous tantrum (not to mention the sarcastic applause after the caution) and the most ridiculous challenge ever made by someone on a caution.
It took them until deep in to extra time to have a shot of any sort (on or off target).

When they play (if you can call it that) like that they deserve to lose, so they got exactly what they deserved. Perhaps now they will reflect on their performance & change the error of their ways for the future.

Last night reminded me of the 1990 final where Argentina, led by their then talisman (Maradona) as champions, again scraped their way to another final and elected to kick and cheat their way past a classy German team, only (again
) to have a player sent off and lose 1-0! Maradona's pathetic tears that night were similar to Messi's last night and were exquisite to watch. Pure Karma.

The match officials did as much as they could to keep last night's game a contest as it was extraordinarily one-sided. The referees ignoring the LOTG throughout the tournament gave the impression of continual bias towards the Argies because it encouraged a level of cheating that marred the competition.
As for the American razmataz, the highlight of the game was Rooney's comment about half-time being 'crap'
The whole before, during and after show was nauseating patriotism by the hosts and sentimental woke marketing by FIFA, not to mention the worrying sight for football of Infant and Trump wedded to one another throughout
I felt like I'd soiled myself by watching it, because I'm one of the billions of viewers who fuelled the commercial success by tuning in

Sadly... a Christmas carol this is not... those who don't really see the error of their ways have zero hope in changing them, and Argentina just don't care what is thought of them.

If I’m thinking of the correct incident, that was the AR, not the ref… but he was sent off after the final whistle.
I missed that.
As a referee who is actively involved with a club throughout the whole World Cup there have been numerous “Why did the ref not deal with…” “Why did VAR get involved…” “Why didn’t VAR get involved…” “Why wasn’t he booked…” etc etc questions from players at the club I’m involved with. (Like others on here as well and I’m sure you can swap club for workplace as well) I started out trying to defend decisions and still did at times, tried to argue that it’s ridiculous to even consider favouritism/corrupt nests but in the end the overwhelming theme is that currently at that level football is rubbish! The whole tournament relied on moments from a few individuals to raise it from the depths or on the fairy tale exploits of a couple of smaller nations.
The blatant cheating on view throughout was dreadful, the refereeing response to the blatant cheating was in most cases non existent.
Last nights final was a dreadful match sandwiched between some awful entertainment’ and well summed up by Rooney!
Utterly disappointed with myself for watching so much and for nor switching the final off, although I did miss the goal getting my nighttime medication!

I don't buy the wider conspiracy theory at all but running the highest profile tournament in football with, in effect, it's own bespoke LotG and/or interpretation of the LotG has resulted in the world's very best referees looking incompetent when we all know they're far from it, and will make refereeing at any level even harder and more thankless than it already was.
Yes, I'm saying that the match officials' instructions to apply 'bespoke LotG' lent itself to favouring cheats, which Argentina naturally benefitted from.
They didn't intentionally bias towards any particular side, but that's how it turned out

Our season continues in a few weeks - July is a summer break - and the first thing I will tell the coaches is to forget the world cup, we are back to normal, remember the laws about dissent, delay of game, bench behaviour and only the captain, remind the players if you like, and… let’s enjoy football again!
