I read that he was once detained by police at a party of prostitution and drugs.
He claims wrong place wrong time. No formal charges were done and released.
He did do the champions league final in 2024 between Madrid and Dortmund and a Europa League final too.
He had recent "issues" with Real Madrid v Bayern for his sending off of Camavinga late in the game for 2 yellows.
He apparently also had a run in with Barcelona too in recent years. All speculation though.
Personally I think this appointment suits Argentinas style as he likes a physical game but at the same time, he has carded more than average this tournament I read.
We found out in recent games that Argentina dont care for rules/laws and will get stuck in very quickly.
On another note....
How have White House Fifa rep come out and said Argentina are allowed to display that Falklands flag if they win...
Lets show utter contempt for rules and no care for politics and livelihoods.
This world cup will definitely be remembered but for all the wrong reasons.

Because the White House spokesperson is refereeing to free speech allowed under USA laws, he can't speak on behalf of FIFA (even though Trump think he can).

In that case, why were we stopped from having some flags, including this one, from inside stadiums... one was denied because the club logo added to the st georges contained a "warship"..
Because FIFA effectively subcontract the stadiums and therefore are in charge of them. Same as is you or I hired a venue for a birthday party or leaving do, we'd control who was and wasn't allowed in there.

Yes, but you are comparing apples with oranges. What fans can bring into stadiums is down to the local authorities, probably with FIFA mandates to follow, but it isn't really anything to do with FIFA. To be clear, the White House saying that showing a flag is OK doesn't mean that FIFA say it is OK.
When players display political messages in front of hundreds of millions of people that is a whole lot different. FIFA will have to act as it blatantly breaches their rules, although we all know that their president will probably unfairly influence the outcome yet again.

Exactly this. And in some UEFA jurisdictions Red enters the conversation.
I think it’s a caution but to do nothing at all is definitely wrong.

At work (work for a major high street bookie) amount of people were talking cards and even put Mac Allister as an option whilst I tried to say this tournament seems to be card free tournament, they didnt believe me.
They should have all the stats and id imagine you’ve made a fortune by the back of YCs!?
