The Ref Stop

England v Ghana

The Ref Stop
Injury and both teams go for a drink and a chat around 21m30.

Hydration break startsat 25m30.

Referee getting in the way around the edge of the penalty area

It didn't make much sense. Could have dealt with the injuries and not had to add any time on.

Also Bellingham no idea how a dropped ball works. First of all wanted to kick it back then once it was on play held his hands up to say I'm not challenging for it despite now being allowed to... 🙈

Right then, James and Ayew both treated on field, both go off and then both waved back on within 10 seconds, some one explain please!
Off field treatment and assessment protocol
A player is not required to leave the field of play for one minute when:

Maybe reason below?

the player:
indicates that they do not require medical attention, except where play was stopped for the injury; or
voluntarily leaves the field during play or a stoppage, provided that this does not delay the restart
there is an injury for which Law 5 permits a player to be treated on the field of play:
a goalkeeper is injured
a goalkeeper and an outfield player have collided and need attention
players from the same team have collided and need attention
a severe injury has occurred, especially a head injury (e.g. concussion), cardiac issue or life-threatening event (e.g. seizure, choking etc.)
a player is injured as the result of a physical offence for which the opponent is cautioned or sent off (e.g. reckless or serious foul challenge)
a penalty kick has been awarded and the injured player will be the kicker

I simply fail to believe anyone else is awake after that 48 minutes plus Infantino Mandated 180 Second Pepsico Guzzle Time™

from Dale Johnson

Pierluigi Collina pre-tournament.

"There will be a hydration break each half, three minutes. This is to protect the health and the safety of players. So it will be around the middle of each half, I would say around minute 22.
But referees are a bit flexible with this. So I mean, if there is an injury at minute 20 needing the doctor and the physio entering the field of play, the hydration break might be anticipated, to take the opportunity to do that during this injury"

Ref pointed towards technical area; perhaps 4th official have it belatedly.
They may be a team but the 4th official is not in the best position to give that, certainly not in a better position than the ref.
Didn't think it was a foul.
If the ref cant make a decision by himself on the field in that position then something is wrong.
