Being pushed on his upper body might make his leg stick out. Being gently pushed on his leg shouldn't. If he lands straight back down there, he doesn't land on his leg. Just my opinion that I wouldn't have been too upset by a second yellow. VAR review was totally unnecessary,

I'm glad you said this, because I also think this may be the case. During my combative playing years, it was quite common/easy to disguise 'leaving one on an opponent' during a jump, tackle or challenge.
I also very much agree with @RefereeX - I'm comfortable with the on-field decision of yellow, but disagree with VAR making it a straight red. It's reckless.

And why do we review 2CTs for upgrade to straight red antyway? It has no impact on the game at all. It simply creates extra controversy for the ref. A 2CT v straight red (either direction) should be outside the ambit of VAR and subject to post review by the competition authority instead.
Agreed. A large part of VAR protocol is aimed at not slowing the game down too much. Reviewing a 2nd caution for upgrade to straight red is slowing the game down for zero reason and a decision as to the severity of it and the respective ban can be made post-match.
Yes giving a player a nudge anywhere from the legs and their upper body when they are in the air will put them off balance. Here is Yilmaz giving Kelly a hand and effecting the players balance..

With respect, still images prove nothing... that's pretty common knowledge. I've watched it and thought the player can do more to prevent what happens. If you disagree, that's fine. I also accept the argument of whether he should have to do more or not... but my stance is that I don't hate a caution for it. A straight red I think is unnecessary, especially on review.
