Could be fun to share dumbest cautions. Mine was a coach. B19 league with rule that if a coach is sent off, it's a forfeit. Coach gets a caution for arguing about something stupid--was arguing with my very experienced AR, and he just continued arguing, leaving me no choice for the first one. OK, no big deal. But then, he's leading 3-1 and he's at it again. Could easily have been the 2CT. Instead, it's a strong warning. Less than 5 minutes to go, and he's at it again--still winning 3-1. Again he's chirping, and my AR is calling me over again. I"m thinking that should probably be the 2CT right there, but I try to let him off the hook. But, no, he has to keep arguing. So off he goes. So instead of win, he gets an automatic loss. And per league rules, a forfeit docks a point from the standings. And all red cards dock a point in the standings. So, a net loss of 8 points in the standing because he couldn't stop arguing about something stupid while his team was comfortably winning.

Yeah, once it's wide you don't have the retake option. You could probably have classed the kicking the ball away as dissent and sin-binned the goalkeeper, although that would cause a further delay obviously.

I mean you can award a retake. The goalkeeper’s offence just needs to have “clearly impacted” the kicker. Now, how this would ever happen in practice, I have no clue, I’ve just seen an opportunity to be pedantic about the LotG.

Was AR2 at step 3/4, FAC early stages, home manager kicking off on the other side over a nothing throw in (AR1 and R had crossed signals) around 15 minutes in, 0-0.

Ref gives a caution as manager won't shut up, walks away, gets 20 feet and see him turn around, walk back and out comes the 2YC I believe (don't think it was straight red).

Team still ended up winning relatively comfortably.

Not if the offence happened before the referee signalled for the penalty to be taken. And from OP description it did happen before.

And even if it happen after the signal, and the referee decides to stop proceedings and caution the keeper (in apposed to allowing the kick to be taken), the whole process resets. So l dont see how it can be a retake based on the keeper offence.

This is in reference to the keeper encroaching after (which didn’t actually happen in this situation? My reading comprehension is not up there today). But yeah, if the keeper offends before the ball is kicked and clearly moves, then there’s no retake as the kick hasn’t been taken in the first place.

A bit of correction again 😊🤣

That timing is really not correct. If the keeper offends after the referee signals for the kick to be taken but before the ball is kicked, then referee allows the kick to be taken and there is a good chance of a retake if there is no goal. Law 14 has the details.

Yeah, inelegant wording from myself (I’ve made it impossible to punish encroachment). What I should’ve said if the goalkeeper offends before the kick is taken **and the referee signals for the kick to be taken again** then there’s no retake.
