They could go back to the original - if it's deliberate in the referee's opinion then it is penalised. Half the people disagreed immediately, then forgot about it😊

If PGMOL have incorrectly interpreted the law, and given out incorrect directives to referees, that potentially has serious repercussions. If, and I do emphasise if, that is what happened in the Palace game it would be clearly incorrect in law and it Palace made an issue of it there could be serious grounds for a replay. It wouldn't be the referee looking at it and making an error of judgement, it would be the referee clearly seeing what happened and then incorrectly applying the laws, no different to an error on a penalty encroachment decision.
 
I feel that is the case given the circumstances and how it clearly wasn't a case of making the body unnaturally bigger. However I also feel that given the gravity of the mistake and how it can be tied back to PGMOL it would somehow be buried to avoid embarrassment. And lastly I feel like I can give City conspiracy theorists a run for their money.

OMG. I need to have my eyes tested, as I did look. . . .

But I still think it is about language not misinterpretation of Law, other than overly applying “biggering” on the goal line.

Would still really, really like to hear an official review of this.

They brief him probably trying to show they aren't as strict.

The briefed view of the Brentford one as a non-deliberate handball where he moved his arm towards the ball is a particular favourite from this article.
 
That's a strange argument as it was Matt Donohue who recommended the review, and unless I've missed something obvious he isn't a FIFA badged referee?

Has he not done VAR(AVAR?) on UEFA games though? I know Michael Salisbury has and he does not have a badge. Mind you it's confusing because Attwell has a FIFA badge and he never referees any UEFA games, just a VAR for them.

It does seem perhaps the VAR has got the law wrong but unless we hear the audio, we will never know. As you said in a previous post, I doubt this will appear on Mic'd up because of Palaces surprisingly lack of reaction to this and potentially not exposing a VAR getting the law mixed up.
 
This discussion simply shouldn't be happening, but it'll never stop because The Law (a term that infers a high degree of definition) is an amateurish load of tosh and applied as if we were judging a local fashion show, each with different tastes
I find using the word 'Law' embarrassing. Honestly, I don't use the term on or off the field

Yeah, you could be right, he might have had VAR and AVAR appointments in the Conference League.
