Level 5 Referee
I am London FA referee. How many FA appointed games per week on average and how much notice do the FA give before a game?

As a 4, you advise your availability a month in advance to The FA, covering both weekends and midweek days.
Appointments to matches are initially made on a monthly basis, and are subject to additions or changes when circumstances dictate (e. g. FA competition replays)
As a Level 4, you will receive referee appointments (Steps 5 and 6) and AR appointments ( the latter on Steps 3 & 4).
If you are usually available each week, you can expect at least one appointment a week in and around the London area as a Level 4.
The number varies in other areas.

Thanks. I was told that L4s would be expected to travel well outside of London. Is this true or will the FA only appoint local games? And can L4s pick which area they would like games to be in?

For lines you will be expected to travel wherever the FA send you. When I was L4 in North London most games were fairly local, but I also had a few trips to the Kent coast, Cambridgeshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire, etc. For middles you will be allocated to a step 5/6 league, as a London referee this will likely be one of SCEFL, Combined Counties, Spartan South Midlands or Essex Senior League.
