I reported a little while ago Youth league incentives i.e. do so many matches and we pay you a bonus, now we have clubs offering to pay extra to ref their matches such is the desperation to get a ref - if only half these clubs presented with more respect they may get more refs! I already have a handful from this season alone on my barred list. Yes I refuse to ref for certain clubs and teams and that will continue forever. Its supply and demand and Im in supply so I demand, It is a terrible state of affairs but I say again show respect and I will ref your games if you do not its basically **** you I will go where Im appreciated. In many ways I love the situation because of more refs took my position clubs would be forced to clear up theor act. I personally feel the FA are FAR FAR FAR too lenient and I would start chucking teams outta league for repeat offences.

I'd be extremely careful accepting more than the published match fee for that competition, that could land you with all kinds of allegations if discovered.
I have not done it myself but Im assuming some refs might. Its an odd thing but shows how desperate some clubs are to get a ref

It leaves them open to allegations of having accepted inducements, and that would inevitably lead onto questions of integrity should the away team find out, especially if they lost the game.

I had one incident earlier this season where one club didn't have the correct amount to pay me before the game (as per that league's competition rules). I refereed the game as normal because I knew they would simply overpay me, but I deliberately told them not to overpay me before the game, as I was conscious of any potential allegations as others have mentioned. When they paid me, I did everything I could to find change to give them as I didn't want any allegations having also given them a (stonewall!) penalty during the match which they won narrowly. That was simply a case of poor planning from that team, but it shows what could happen and imagine if they had overpaid me before the game and the other side found out and then that happened! If possible, avoid teams who are paying you too much. Just return what you shouldn't be receiving if you want to officiate the game, otherwise steer clear in my opinion.
