WEEK 22 REVIEW

A strong week all round with almost everyone going 3/5 across FA Cup Third Round weekend, but it was the bonus game who split the men from the boys. Holby picked up a maximum 15 with the Spurs 3-0 win at Tamworth, which gave him a new weekly PB. We all went for a Spurs win which they eventually delivered, but a lot of us had the hosts sticking one in. Only Ste had a draw at the Emirates (2 pts) and he scored the only other treble of the week for Ipswich's 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers (12 pts). Saints-Swansea split the group with quite a few away wins predicted, and De Klassieker went the way of the evil blue empire and a handful of people who didn't plump for the cowardly draw grabbed minor points.

Ste and Firs got 5 pity bonus points for the draws at Emirates (1-1) and Eastbourne (0-0) in their bonus picks, but no one managed to find a 2-2 draw. The top three all managed to grab 11 though for high-scoring fixtures. 6 goals at Reims for Holby, Wizzy stays top with 8 goals at Leicester as QPR had them at 3-2 going into the break, and heartbreak/hilarity for One whose gonzales farmers' league had Tippytoes and Leonalewis at 2-2 deep into stoppage time... and then the visitors scored a 98th minute penalty. Ouch/LOL. Just one change in the table as Exxy hops back above Navy at the foot.

🏆 THE ROSS SHIELD 🏆

Over the next three weeks your cumulative score (excluding bonuses) will see the top eight players progress into a head-to-head knockout competition tying up with the FA Cup 4/5/6th rounds. I’ll sit out, and the two who miss out can play The Rusty Plate between them. I’ll sort some prizes out.

Anyone willing to guess who felt more pain on the 98th minute scored penalty, me or Tapatio fans 🤣

Added a head-to-head cup competition that’ll get going next month, top 8 scorers over the next three weeks to qualify. Doesn’t require anyone to do anything extra. Top 8 into a random draw then I’ll sync the rounds up with the (real) FA Cup ties.

Is that top 8 starting this week or the overall top 8 in three weeks time?

Does fixture set A get extra bonus points for higher degree of difficulty? 😆😊
Y’know I did consider a “weighting” of something like 1.5x points for a harder set, but balanced these two groups according to bookies odds of home wins.

The weighting thing will pop up in a future round though!
