The academies - EFL youth alliance, have asked the U18s and U16s games to kick off both the first half and second half at the same time, to allow eligible players to move between matched.

An example will be, U18s want to sub in an U16s, but he will be actively playing in the U16s pitch adjacent. So they'll get the U16s gaffer to sub him off and he'll trot over and get subbed on.

The reason the have the same kick off is to make sure they don't play more than 1 games worth of time.

To add to what has already been said though, this has absolutely nothing to do with the referee. If you get involved and deny someone the right to play and it subsequently turns out they were eligible you are going to be in hot water. Just politely point out that you are there to enforce the laws, player eligibility isn't within your remit.

Thanks guys it was the non offending team who asked me to add in my ref report...I've shown him the responses and said it would be for him to report not me

When I was the RLO for my local junior league, the clubs used to have to swap registration cards with the players names, DOB and pics on before the game to prove the players were eligible. As many clubs didn’t bother, the league tried to force referees to enforce it and do the check themselves. Safe to say I didn’t allow that to happen
