manager mouth after game

I had a cup game Saturday and at the end of the game an away manager came out with the classic "you ruined the game" line after his team lost 4-1. Aggressive and spitting feathers

I was so fed up with this team/game i just ignored him and i went off to my car. I even got the home team to pay me via bank as i didn't want to hang around.

On reflection this was a yelllow card offence and it's too late to report this to CFA but:

Can you put this through without bothering to ask the the manager for his name or do you have to get him to name himself regardless?

Thanks for your views.

You are obviously annoyed but I think you have your answer already. You need to park this and be ready next time.

I think you have to ask his name, really. Unless you already actually know it.
At least once, should be enough.
If he refuses, say no problem, show the card, and report it as an extraordinary.
You could offer another opportunity after the card, and further refusal second yellow but it would have to be a yellow of course.

Where did this incident take place btw?

Fair enough, caution sounds ok.

And I assume you were over there to get paid from the home team...

Not always possible, and not aimed at you as I know you are experienced, so for the benefit of others...
You mentioned you were already fed up with this team - were there opportunities to deal with it earlier, if you were fed up to me suggests this was not a one off event?
And
Perhaps going to a different area of the touchline i.e. put the home team between you and the away team. Again based on comments above I am assuming that you weren't expecting them to tell you what a great game you had so where we can, why invite it, if we can avoid it.

This happened while the home manager was paying me.

The whole game when downhill when i awarded a penalty in the 3rd minute when the captain shoved a player over at a corner.

After that it was pointless appeals and just complete stupidity. I sin binned the captain in the second half and did 3 other yellows for reckless tackles.

All niggles but not really enough to caution. The captain got a loud verbal warning but he was the worst.

I failed (according to them) to give them a penaly at 7-1 with a minute left on the watch. On this incident i could have re-sin binned the captain but i thought with a minute left what's the point?

The whole attitude was poor and they lost 7-1 in the end. I wont ref them again and have told the league so.

I've since found out 4 of our refs now refuse to ref them as well as me.

An unpleasant morning which was a shame.

I hate teams like this. I had one match earlier this season where I was that upset about what was said to me that I took over 2 months off and still refuse to ref both teams. When I was asked to officiate the same reverse fixture for the weekend just gone, I may as well have told the ref secretary to do one. I was very clear about the fact I was unhappy with the request. Neither side have had an appointed official since the match that I refereed in mid-October, so word must have got around somehow.

A good RefsSec will just send an "enforcer" in: an experienced referee who isn't on promotion, doesn't give a hoot about their club marks, and who will wave cards around like confetti. They often aren't the best referees, but their a very useful tool in your arsenal for when a club repeatedly steps out of line, and the results can be spectacular 😂

I think this will be me when I decide I'm not/realise I'm not good enough to go up the refereeing ladder. I already annoy Sunday League teams by refereeing them properly (as shown by my game yesterday), so give me 20 years or so, maybe less, and it'll be me I'm sure.

They have tried this but came across two problems:
1. There aren't many of those as the league is commonly used by young/inexperienced referees as it is U18 matches only - they have admitted this is the case before
2. The experienced refs also refuse to take charge of the 2 teams involved.

Pay me mileage and I will happily come and deal with them 😂

You’re right to be frustrated after games like this, my mindset on teams like these is use cards as early in the match as appropriate.

I then in my mind multiply up the £12 fine for each caution or £35 for a red card & then satisfy myself if each referee keeps doing this football will become too expensive or they change their behaviour.

These teams will often use their own referee, which is unfair to their opponents.

Likewise, nothing I like more than a game like this now I’ve got the confidence to just flash cards when needed. Shocks the Sunday league lot who are used to centre circle hoggers who left their cards at home

I’ll join the queue. Give me action!

I do this for the difficult matches. And to make difficult matches easy - if you know what I mean.
