Care to elaborate?What the hell?
Anyone watching won't need explanation. Awful refereeing. Not often a tackle leaves me aghast. I don't understand what's going on with EPL refs. Appallingly bad at timesCare to elaborate?
We'll get the Tarkowski one off YouTube later. He won the ball. At least I think he did. As we know, nothing else matters. I was watching from behind the sofaIt wouldn’t have looked out of place in an ice hockey game I agree.
Early on though, Atkinson seemed to have it about right. One that comes to mind was Richarlson again, clearly leaning backwards into a defender who simply stepped back and let physics do the rest. Not a foul despite the arm flapping. After that it seemed to unravel and he had a poor spell. Think the goals bailed him out and killed the match as a contest.
I was on a phone call and had the football on the TV with the sound off. Think I interjected into the conversation with a WTF!We'll get the Tarkowski one off YouTube later. He won the ball. At least I think he did. As we know, nothing else matters. I was watching from behind the sofa
The Premiership referee's are allowing brutal tackles to return to the game and its wrong because it will start happening at all levels again.
What the Referees did at the Euros, was a reasonably successful attempt at stopping players from refereeing the games by ignoring the way players (like Harry Kane for example) have become adept at feigning a FT against them. These stoppages are pervasive, spoil games and are a low level form of cheating. So, I don't think they redefined CRUEF, they merely identified that they had to get wise to players conning themExactly. This is just the FA trying to do something that's been trialled in Europe and making a mess of it. Again.
It's supposed to be a very slight raising of the bar on how much force actually constitutes a careless foul. And that's it. But either through individual incompetence, or poor training, we've seen a number of our referees changing their bar on much more serious tackles - which should have remained unaffected.
What you describe in your first few lines is a redefinition of Careless. And that's fine. What the Referees did at the Euros, was a reasonably successful attempt at stopping players from refereeing the games by ignoring the way players (like Harry Kane for example) have become adept at feigning a FT against them. These stoppages are pervasive, spoil games and are a low level form of cheating. So, I don't think they redefined CRUEF, they merely identified that they had to get wise to players conning them
So the Refs at the Euros ultimately did well because they demonstrated a better understanding of the game
The PGMOL on the other hand... they have redefined CRUEF... so they've messed it up... that's the difference for me
