You have to go through the CFA procedure so they can verify the documents and the validity of the checks. Not all checks are the same. Mine for working as a teacher is not accepted by The FA.My DBS is up before the end of the year. Do I source my own DBS checks and just send the certificate and send it to the CFA or do I have to go through the CFA and use a preferred provider?
Thanks in advance

There was an extension granted on all DBS checks for 12 months and this was announced in early April. So for example mine was due to expire in May 2020 but has been extended to May 2021. What does it say on your WGS profile, as mine says the new extended expiry date?
Found the correspondence from The FA. It saysStill showing as November 2020 expiry dates for DBS and safeguarding. No extended date, not as of yet anyway
Found the correspondence from The FA. It says
All individuals whose DBS checks are due to expire between 1 March 2020 and 1 October 2020 will not be required to renew their DBS checks until 1 year after the scheduled date of expiry.
So as yours expires after the start of October, you need to get yours completed in the usual way.
I would talk to the Safeguarding Lead at the County FA about the online part. They may also be able to arrange for the verification of your application and supporting documents for you.Ok Brian, thanks for clearing that up. I've never renewed so I assume I contact the CFA for the DBS and look for a safeguarding course online?
You're S&H aren't you @Ben448844 ? Their referee registration email sent on July 14 gives you all the information you'll need. One of the links they send you is http://www.sheffieldfa.com/news/2020/jul/08/fa-dbs-applications-and-verification
I completed my renewal in February before lockdown and it was so quick and easy. Not all the ID verifiers are at CFA and there's a handful scattered around the area who can help.
You'll need to use their link to get the ball rolling. It might be a bit slower at the moment but best get it sorted before it's too late.
Re Safeguarding, my qualification expired recently so I did the online Safeguarding course: “The FA Online Safeguarding Children Re-Certification” course - this is the course you need to do when your “face to face“ course expires. (May be able to do it before that course expires). It (the re-cert) has a three year “life”, so I’m now good until July 23.
On completing the course, it did take a few days to synch with my Whole Game account, but is now showing under my learning experience. The course took about 2 hours (doesn’t have to be done in one sitting)
Google “Fa online safeguarding course” to find links to the course.
