How to signal for this?

Corner comes in, keeper gets bumped whilst attempting to catch the ball. Ball is dropped by keeper and fumbled over the line
Defensive team look at me hoping for a foul on the keeper, but I decide the keeper spilled it, the contact was minimal and I'm awarding the goal
Giving a foul on the keeper would be an obvious an instant signal, but i found myself conspicuous by inaction when awarding the goal

I don't think there's anything wrong with slightly delaying the signal to give the goal if it's going to be mistaken for a free kick. You'd like to think that the lack of whistle would be enough to tell the players it wasn't a FK, but the amount of referees I still see blowing their whistle to indicate a goal astounds me. If you really wanted to clarify it, you could just say something like 'goal, no foul', but I don't think that's too necessary.

My reaction, was no whistle and for want of a better idea, the word 'goal' projected towards my audience (after maybe 2 seconds pause). In hindsight, the word goal might have expedited quicker and I'd be inclined to promptly run towards half way in future; to escape the vicinity of any enthusiastic dissenters. I was just curious to see if anyone had any better ideas (there's some merit in reducing dissent by legging it away!)

Stay at home is one that always crosses my mind

Whether you blow or not, I think you have to shout goal and point to the spot. But in any debatable situation where you want to take control and let everyone know you decision, that's what the whistle is for. I'd probably give a couple of swift blasts, scream goal, point to the spot, but then get to the goal line so all the players are in view in case there's any afters... you don't want to be on the penalty spot with half the players in front, half behind if there could be any silly business

I had an incident Sunday, plays break down and a long ball up field and when attacker picks up the ball im probably 40 yards behind play, im getting closer but certainly not in the ideal position but im close enough to see a trip and a definite foul, only question is with a bit of mist on the pitch im not 100% sure if its inside the box.

I delay and delay until i get closer and i can clearly see its a good 4-5 yards inside the box, nothing wrong with a delay to give yourself thinking time.

Normally the concern is the other way - how to signal a foul in this scenario! (quick toots usually do it).

Here, we always whistle for a goal. It's always a distinctive, long whistle. That, coupled with a few running steps back upfield, would provide clarity (but then you'll need to make sure you've turned to monitor things).

If not using a signal? I'd probably do the same, maybe a shout of goal.

In that case I just focus on the blade of grass it occurred on and don't look anywhere else until I can see the line.

But I'll still blow quickly.....just keep running and have a delayed arm signal.
