The Ref Stop

Tottenham vs Man City

Moss is a paid athlete. His Salary is £65,000 a year
Sterling is a paid athlete. His Salary is £180,000 a week

Interesting you mention this. Wasn't Arsene Wenger caught out by this, he thought referees were getting 65k a week? Think it came up in one of those annual "How to improve referees" articles in the media a year or three back.

Agree with most here - that's outside the box and clear DOGSO, so FK and red card is the correct decision here. The ferocity of the tackle is enough to justify red for me, but that's moot in the context of this match if the correct call is made in the first place (obviously SFP carried a different length ban to DOGSO though)
Just rewatched the game (Tottenham fan, glutton for punishment!). Sterling gets the pass away to Sane just BEFORE he is taken out by Llloris, slightly outside the box. Thus DOGSO is out of the question as the GSO wasn't denied and it just becomes a 'normal' sanction for the ferocity of the tackle. I agree this latter could go either way but don't think yellow would be controversial in the circumstances.
