I think the accepted norm in situations like this should be once a player has drawn their leg back to have a shot the space between foot and ball is theirs. Any defensive action that doesn’t play the ball directly but is carried out to stop the shot being played (stepping in front of the...
Referee plays on.
I think there’s an argument for SFP but also reckless/DOGSO. I am not sold on either but think DOGSO a much stronger call. Quite surprised the referee has dismissed the foul. Any other player anywhere else I’d expect freekick yellow minimum 🤷♂️
I am Biased though…. 😬
Thoughts?
Kilmarnock fan here. Not a penalty for me but also don’t think it’s VAR intervention worthy either. Also, we need all the help we can get at the moment 😬
I think if this were the case it would be a factual overturn with no visit to the monitor needed.
For what it’s worth I like the VAR review. Arm is tucked in so natural position and not deliberate.
My thoughts exactly. For the action he is carrying out I’d argue his arm needs to provide some balance for the rest of his body. Add in the deflection from a yard away and my mind is blown.
Handball offence, maybe 🤷♂️ by some interpretation of the law . Clear and obvious error, surely not...
Hey. I’m involved with the refereeing side of CAS. Unfortunately you are at the mercy of individual clubs on how quickly you are paid. The clubs I deal with tend to BACS on Monday or Tuesday after the game weekend, so pretty sharp. I have heard some not great stories about clubs being much less...
For me this wasn’t a challenge. More an accidental coming together that has knocked the ball out of keepers hands. It could be argued that the keeper needs to be more careful with the ball in his hands 🤷♂️
Yeah I think you’re right.
I was penalising for this:
“prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball from the hands or kicks or attempts to kick the ball when the goalkeeper is in the process of releasing it”
But seems incorrect the more I think.
First incident Looks like a foul on the keeper.
Second one, the attacker hasn’t intentionally played the ball out of keepers hands but it’s certainly safe refereeing to give indirect freekick and it’s also what football expects (sorry 🤦♂️😬)
The guy is an ex cat 1 (refereed premier league games I believe). Just shows it can happen to anyone.
FWIW I think he somehow gets to the right decision. Although the striker doesn’t appear to make much movement towards him the keeper has full control of the ball and it would be sensible for...
I think this months VAR review does referees and the SFA no favours. Mostly communication or decision making calamities are showcased in this one.
The first three are shambolic in my opinion.
Push in the back not enough for me to give a pen in game and certainly not clear and obvious for a...
Yeah. Get to training, get some games under your belt, try to arrange a couple of observations through your local association minor grade representative and attend association meetings. If you do all that you’ll be moved to category 5 or 6 within a year or so.
Cat 5 and 6 are essentially the...
