Cardiff Super Cup

The Referee Store
Looks that way :hmmm:
I've had a good few runs out pal, how about you?

not much just prepped for the fitness test, took a much deserved break and few friendlies, season starts this Saturday for me a cup final on the line!

My knees are still recovering from the English Super Cup last weekend, so I'm not heading down to Cardiff! I know a few going down from the Manchester / Cheshire area ... not on this forum though.

How was it run? I'm imagining the setup will be similar.

I guess so. A the start of each day we were put in teams of 3, mixing experience with newer refs, and allocated matches (av. 4 per day, 15-40 min halves). The referee coordinators juggled things as best they could when needed during the day.

Always good to work with different sets of colleagues, and the atmosphere in the changing room was great despite the terrible weather.

Do you work with ARs?

Yes. We had teams of 3 for everything except mini's (U9's and younger). I even threw a couple of young refs onto the line for an U10 match with no offsides just so they could practice movement and judging ball out of play.

Unless you're on Youth or OA matches with a young ref, you'd expect to rotate your team through the day to share the middles and lines.

Top tip: When you get your matches at the start of the day, work out when best to squeeze a bit of food into the schedule ... it can be a bit hectic.
