I think the match fee is unfair

the teams would have to pay £30 each game for us in Essex ... but we get £40 for double header? think it should be 2 x fees

as for the red card scenario ... I do agree with @Padfoot - try and prevent it if possible ...

I like the whole different ref logic though!

The Referee Store
If you've dismissed someone for VC late in the first match.....you have 15 mins before someone goes looking for revenge.
Players will bear grudges against opponents lasting seasons, never mind 15 mins!

Whilst they are separate matches, anyone with half a brain can see that there is a potential for a massive flashpoint in the second one.
By approaching the manager you are doing what you can to prevent that flashpoint. Nothing wrong in that....you'd use the captains during the match to calm players down, just an extension of that principle.

You're not telling him what team to pick, you're pointing out that he has an opportunity to prevent a bigger problem occurring....whether he chooses to accept it or not is another matter.

As for special attention.....you have a player you have just dismissed moments before....why wouldn't you keep a closer eye on them?
They are going to a target for potential revenge from the opponents, and they have already shown that they have poor discipline.....receipe for disaster.

Most of these double headers are played by teams mid-table and nothing much to play for. They are normally sensible, but

the first match does go badly, then don't play the second match on the grounds of safety. If some "hothead" does cause a proble and wants to sort it out in the second match - don't start it, go home. The league will support you.

But you get £30 for a 90-minute match, and in this scenario you're getting £40 for 120 minutes. If it was properly pro-rata you'd get £45 for the double-header. However, for a kids match, which at a certain age is 30 minutes each way, you get £20.

Therefore the £40 is a the correct value using the £20 base to calculate the match fee.

EDIT: I'm an accountant you know, and I clearly can't pro-rata 120 mins into 90. Of course, £40 is the correct pro-rata amount. Oh, the shame! Thanks @bester

I've just checked and rather amusingly (maybe not for me ) one of the teams is in 2nd place, the other in third place. :D

The third placed team have won all their matches so far this season (7) and are only in that spot because of fewer matches played than the two teams above them.

I knew I spoke too soon. What's the worst that can happen I said.......

:p

And of course, depending on location, you're saving yourself the time / cost of the extra journeys to and from the ground. So overall I think they've got it about right fee wise.

I've only done double headers in youth football, U18 and U19 as they're played at a good speed unlike some OA games, and whilst they chop some of the time off we actually get two full match fees for a double header, the only difference is the home side pay the whole mileage as would normally get done, the 2 teams don't share that cost.

Can't disagree with Padfoot, seems sensible management to me.
