Did the player punching (sorting of) the assistant in the nuts get sent off?
 
@SM - can't explain why that player was only cautioned. That actually led to a change in policy, meaning players can now be dealt with by the FFA when the referee has made an obvious error (you may have seen my link in another thread where a HAL player was cautioned after headbutting a player. This policy change, coming from the 'sackwhack', is what enabled the suspension.

Interestingly, in the GF that season my team's goalkeeper was sent off for slapping the referee's hand (it's about 1:30 in the clip), and suspended for a mandatory 12 months. The fact that this guy got off scot free was one of the things that made the suspension so much more controversial (and again, that incident led to a lifting of the minimum sentence for future offences. In order to allow that player to participate in Olyroos (international U/21) matches, they 'halted' the suspension from time to time).

A lot of HAL fans would be familiar with most of those decisions, so it does lose some context on this side of the pond. Basically they were all the most controversial ones - most of them were given as a penalty when they were dives, one was a penalty when it should have been a foul against the attacker. I don't agree that all of them were incorrect, though, but the majority of them were not great decisions.

Oh, and yes, that was a Christmas Cracker in place of a coin toss, and that really happened!
