The correct recording of the name and number is a basic requirement in refereeing, and the method varies dependent on whether team sheets are provided, paper and pencil or electronic means used, etc.
Take time to ask and check the full name given to you by the player.
For referees hoping for promotion, administration is considered alongside other issues, and therefore needs to be right.
My strangest example was when I refereed a team of Gurkha soldiers, most of whom spoke no English. I cautioned a player, did not understand his reply, so gestured for him to write his name on my card. When he did so, the name had 28 letters![]()
If your marks are strong enough and you corrected your error quickly, you will hopefully still be OK.My only concern is this little mistake will put me off from promotion panel. Hopefully not
Apart from that do you think club Marks play a role for promotion to 6-5?If your marks are strong enough and you corrected your error quickly, you will hopefully still be OK.
No. Unless you're being consistently poorly marked by clubs and there is a clear pattern, then the local FA may raise the concern with you and it could affect your promotion, but a couple of low marks from disgruntled clubs won't count against you.Apart from that do you think club Marks play a role for promotion to 6-5?
No, as far as I am aware they don't even look at club marks any more for promotion. Perhaps they look at marks for county cup games, but in my experience they don't even ask leagues to provide club marks like they used to.Apart from that do you think club Marks play a role for promotion to 6-5?
