The Ref Stop

Bournemouth vs City

So even though I’m desperate for city to drop points, as a referee, I was so pleased to see the Bournemouth player booked for sarcastically applauding the referee. Booked for dissent. Premier league players get away with far too much with “language” to referee.

Haven’t got a clip yet but just before the Haaland goal, out of interest would anyone be giving an IDFK to Man City for that overhead kick attempt from the Bournemouth defender? (Had there been no advantage etc etc)

Even if it was, you'd never get a pgmol ref giving a decision like that

Safe refereeing at all costs

I haven’t seen the clip, so just addressing a generality—PIADM for a high kick at the professional level really is different from lower levels. The expectation of control by a professional player is higher. So for those of us doing games significantly lower than that, we should be much quicker to go with PIADM on an overhead kick near an opponent than what we see in professional games.
