VAR allowable restart interventions

A goal was disallowed by VAR for 2) in the EPL back in August.


My question

1) A long attacking throw, attacker scores a header. The throw-in was improperly taken, eg one foot in the air.

2) Attacker less than 1 m from a 3 man wall when a free kick is taken. Goal is scored directly from the free kick.

3) Rolling ball free kick. Goal is scored from that phase of play.

All scenarios goal is awarded on field. Can the VAR advice a review in the scenarios above?

Any reason why one of them are yes and others are no?

And how about all other restarts if they are not taken correctly or the correct procedure is not followed?

Make of it what you will but this is in the VAR protocol in the LOTG.




And this was in an undated "VAR_Protocol Summary_v1.0" by IFAB, but it was sometime between 2016 and 2018.



Is the the actual restart part of possession, if so I'd say the decision to award the restart is what gave them possession and what if that was wrong?

After querying why a throw was different they've said they made a mistake and restarts, except penalties, can't be reviewed

Have they understood correctly? I think they are saying they cannot review the *awarding* of a restart (whose throw/ corner etc) - but if there was a foul throw which is what I think you were asking - would that be reviewable?
