A game is eneded in a draw after extra time and requires PSO. Immediately after the full time whistle a player next to the referee commits dissent and the referee shows him the yellow card.

Does this caution carry into PSO?

Consider the player may or may not have previously been cautioned in different scenarios.

Interesting one that I don't know the answer too. Follow up question that came into my mind as a result: do previous cautions 'expire' at the full time whistle or when the PSO actually starts?

I believe as soon as the final whistle goes that the game has ended, and that PSO is considered separate and so this would be a new caution (so if booked in game, they would not be sent off; this would be their first yellow of the PSO).

As for dissent - don't know! I am assuming cannot be sin binned but that's a guess.

The caution reset. In my mind is one of the dumber things IFAB has done. And I believe it was driven purely by the fear of having GKs sent off during kicks for a 2CT for coming off the line when the had a DR caution in the game. Of course, this was simply doubling down on the stupid idea of cautioning GK# for coming off the line—something that had (and has) zero impact on GKs coming off the line, as the sanction that matters to the GK is losing the save, not the caution. Both the reset and the GK caution for encroachment should be abolished. (Of course, real problems with repeat GK encroachment could be addressed, in the referee’s discretion! As PO.)

If I had my way, the PSO would start at the coin toss for the PSO, not at the blowing of the full time whistle. However, I know this isn't the case. In games that go to a PSO, the PSO begins as soon as the full time whistle is blown, so the cautions are reset at that point.
