I can only imagine there was 'not enough force' for the palace player to avoid a red card.

But how is such a clear piece of violent conduct allowed?! The rules there are simply not up to standard. A clear punch to the body out of frustration/due to petulance is VC red card all day every day.

Nowhere near enough force, no clenched fist. Doesn't really tick any criteria whatsoever. A yellow at best if any of the officials had actually seen it.

On a side note, the ref let some serious dissent go unnoticed. Grealish got up and clapped him twice and somehow didn't get cautioned.

Definitely was not a clenched fist from what Sky showed anyways.

Was a bit going on between the 2 players anyways and I think the Everton Defender had hold of him at one point.

Think this is an example where Tarkowskis honesty has saved the Palace player. Had he gone to ground and rolled around, I think there’s a different outcome.

For it to be a red card the referee has to decide it was excessive force or brutality as that is what law defines VC as. Nowhere near that level for me, there's very little force let alone brutality. Stupid by the player to take the risk but there's no way it is a red card.

Defining EF had been a bit of a moving target. I think at one point, for things like swimming or headsets, the answer was that the acceptable level of force is zero, so any force is excessive and a send off. I kinda think that was a better standard as it meant certain things simply weren't acceptable. But now, at least at professional levels, we are much more focussed on reasons not to send off.
