Currently sat in my car on minute 7 of a lightning delay - reset two minutes ago so another 28 to go!

Besides the tolerance of teams and myself - is there a maximum time I can wait before abandoning?

Reminds me of a WNL game I reffed a few years ago... one of my ARs had been doing a Sunday League game in the morning about 45 mins away, which ended up finishing late due to a serious injury - he arrived at 1:57 for a 2pm ko

Plenty of time the warm up can be the jog/run to check the nets, which can easily be done in 3 mins!

I had that years ago when I managed a senior women's team. We had a 2pm WFA Cup game, referee was there 90 minutes before as required, one of the assistants rocked up in muddy kit 5 minutes before kick off. If you have a senior appointment in the afternoon it is nigh on impossible to be there on time if you referee a morning game, I really don't know why people spread themselves so thin.

I only took the morning U12 game because I am ref sec this year and our league has been cut from 12 to 3 referees from last season. Usually my wife vetoes it!

I had a funny experiance related to this. It was a academy cup final with my team a few months back as the grassroots league I reffed was already over. Lightning sirens went off and we had to wait in our cars. Ref called us back 30 min after and we had 5 mins before they went off again. This kept happening for 2 more hours until the next 2 groups of finalists were already present for their match. Ref decided to go straight into PK shootout and it proved to be extremely detrimental for their team as they were expected to beat my team.
