It will be good if top flight referees are aware of the latest law changes and if they are, they have the awareness to apply them too.

38th minute, ball is cleared by Brentford from a long TI into Brentford box. Very clearly going to a Villa player but it hits the referee for a dropped ball. And he drops it to Brentford despite protest from Villa. Though Brentford does the sporting thing.

I wrote this on another forum.
No Brentford player up the other end, clearly heading to at least Martinez, and gives dropped ball to Brentford.
Thought the free kick on Martinez was soft, if at all it actually was one.
Hes come from a few yards out towards the 2-3 players, misses the ball, and falls over. He then does what Pickford done a few times last season and claims for a foul by pretending to be hurt. Gets the goal chalked off and a free kick.

They also missed an obvious corner in tbe first minute, giving a goal kick.

Refs not having a great game, but its not that bad (yet).
