Qualifying as Referee via FA Wales

Hi,

I currently live in Chester very near the Welsh border (but in England). If I did the FA Wales refereeing course, would I be able to transfer to the Cheshire FA and referee games in Cheshire? Or would I only be able to ref in Wales?

If so, do they do the in person courses in North Wales (Wrexham area)?

I have applied to a course in Cheshire but the response email mentions demand is very large for the course (not sure how competitive) so just exploring other options to get things going

Thanks for any help : )

I nearly did the opposite many moons again when I considered moving to north Wales for university. There were no issues with me dual-registering across both when i queried it. No reason I can see for you to have any issues.

You may wish to check with the RDO in Cheshire and the FAW about the potential need for international clearance if you qualify in one and officiate in the other. As refereeing levels differ, and in Wales are prescriptive, worth doing some digging before you commit to either.

I was with a lad recently who studies at a Welsh university and refs in Wales whilst there, but also refs in England. So I can vouch it is being done.
