Had my first 2 games on Sunday 23rd, first one U14's and second U16's.
For my first game my assigned mentor was there and afterwards said that everything I did was fine, correct penalty call (no arguments from anyone at the time) and also we both noticed towards the end the temperature was rising so I called more 'soft' fouls just to take the heat out of the game. Most worrying thing was the wind, ball was moving during corners and goal kicks!! Oh and just on that, one big learning that I took into the 2nd game was to not attempt a coin toss in very windy conditions!!
2nd game I had a couple of incidents to deal with, I will put them in match incidents for feedback but to summarise,
I gave a penalty for a handball on the line, denying a goal and I had a total mind blank, I gave the penna but had no idea if I should give a YC or RC, so gave neither.
Secondly I had a parent arguing with the away coach and players ran over to stand up for their side. Managed to get players back on the pitch and resumed the game, minutes later I seen the 2 adults laughing and joking together!!
Lastly, late on in the game a sub came on with what looked like normal specs, not sports glasses, should I have refused him entry onto the pitch?
Overall I enjoyed it, seen some good football and got the heart pumping!!
