ENG v HUN

Very odd second yellow card. Although by far not the biggest talking point from this dreadful game

The Referee Store
It's not odd, its a poor decision, one that isn't a foul. A farce of the var process that it can't be checked and that he'll get a suspension is also joke

Well that’s 90 minutes of my life I’m never getting back

It was a shocking decision, and in any other games might have drawn a lot more talking point. Sadly it was nowhere a shocking decision as it was a shocking performance by England. I don't recall seeing a performance that bad in my lifetime.

Stones must have slept with his wife, sister or both. I didn't think either should have been yellow. The game was awful, the only positive is that it wasn't in the World Cup.
The first one was a definite caution, Stones smashed him in the head with his elbow. Didn't mean to, but it was still definitely reckless.

The second one wasn't even a foul, and unfortunately the referee has been conned by play acting.

I know VAR dont get involved here but they should not need to when AR and 4th are perfectly placed to help out...

am not even sure what cautionable offence this can even be fabricated to be

Didn't see it. Opted to go to the cinema with Mrs Kes instead. Rather glad I did now.

The feigning of injury is what cost Stones; the ultimate demonstration of simulation that isn’t a “dive”.

Stones needs to learn from this, and ultimately got what he deserved.

He needs to show a bit more awareness and intelligence. It was clear that Hungary were indulging in the dark arts from early on and he allowed himself to get into a position where he got caught out. He knows the player is coming and marginally moves across to block him, playing straight into the trap.

Won’t blame the referee as he’s as much a victim of the con trick as Stones, but Stones cannot afford to be done like this again.

To be honest, (and again, I didn't see any of it last night) it's a bit late for Stones to be learning his craft now. He's a seasoned international and plays for one of the best club football teams on the planet. His track record in an England shirt is very poor in my opinion. It was his lack of defensive awareness that saw Croatia score the goal that beat England in the 2018 World Cup semi as I recall. I seem to remember another "howler" in an England shirt since then as well but the details elude me at this time.

I just don't rate the guy (as you've probably guessed :D).

I disagree - I watched all the replays and couldn't see any indication whatsoever that Stones was aware of the opponent, and not so much as a hint of him moving across to block the opponent.

For me, the Hungarian player just runs straight into the back of him.

I think the Ref's been conned by a total piece of play acting.

Me also

am unaware of any prior incident but cant find fault, blame Stones here for anythiing

6 Fifa badged eyes however....

I'm going to take this to 'fan forum' place but I can't believe the stones hate!

Absolute 10/10 defender, best english defender by an absolute mile and I'd rather have him in my team over laporte and dias.

I’m struggling to see how this has turned into a Stones bashing thread? It’s an awful decision, simple as that.
Yes the Hungarian player is a con man but a referee of Turpin’s quality simply HAS to see that for what it is.

We will have to agree to disagree there I am afraid. But as this is a referee forum we'll have to leave it there.
