So, bo**ocks, I've got a weird injury, can't run on it and have had to cancel all sporting activities for a while. It's the off season now so I've had to ditch the futsal for a while and I've got until April to get back. I feel pretty down about it right now.
I've had pains in one foot for months but just carried on - turns out I have a textbook Morton's Neuroma - nerve damage behind the toe from the bones getting crushed together - common in runners, from high heels (!), impact sports and court sports. I'm being really careful but e,g. driving sets it off and I still have constant pain at the mo.
A few years ago I tied my boots (not the high heels!) tighter and tighter which probably did not help, as my boots got so loose from so much crabbing running the line, I move about on the balls of my feet generally, but what's set it off this year is I have been playing loads of serious table tennis, up on the balls of my feet, and I've crushed it! As well as 85 matches from April to October.
So, a bit of a PSA, if you get burning pain behind the toes, soreness in the ball of the foot, weird pains in your toes (that aren't long toenails!) then catch this early, because it is really annoying and is permanent damage that needs managing. Argh!
