Going To The Dark Side...

Justylove

RefChat Addict
After completing a practical workshop and submitting a sample report, today I got confirmed as joining my local Observer Panel.

Looking forward to trying to fit in some 7-6 observations over the course of this season and do my bit to help up and coming referees reach their potential.

Was a very unusual, but actually quite fulfilling experience doing it, and very well organised by my county FA.

Still yet to do an official observation...
If I am free I'm needed to referee which is fair enough.
Will give me something to do if I get injured though.
Congratulations

Same boat brother. I was meant to also observe this season but shortage means I’m doing 5-6-7 matches a week instead.

At some point, I'll probably follow suit. Where did you sign-up for the Workshop etc.?

Messaged the observer coordinator to say I was interested a little while back and he said that we'd Dona practical session around my appointment availability.

Welcome to the dark arts. We will teach you :
How to write a report which bears no significance to the match you watched.
How to explain one missed throw-in in the 89th minute ruined your whole performance
How a cautioning technique is all wrong
How to think that refereeing was better in the 1980's and that how you should it now.
How viewing from 70 yards away on the touchline gives you a prefect view of everything.

I'm very disappointed that you are not going to teach me:

How incorrect coloured sock tape will destroy your match control and any chance of ever refereeing at above L7.

So, that is incorrect. It will destroy you until you get to L2 and they you go "F*** IT".

PS - As a L4, you should know that it is not match control, it is application of law and if you can't get that one right how will you know what a penalty is? Players equipment in Law 4, fouls is Law 12 - and of course, you learn the laws in numerical order

You forgot to add that we will teach you ..

'That your positioning for corners is incorrect' even though it's the exact positioning that was advised to you by your previous observer ...
