The Referee Store
That is disgraceful, surely a ban for him. Thought the ref, Tony Harrington, was really good today. Dealt with dissent which was refreshing and just seemed so calm with dealing with incidents

It's a shame then the way things are weighted - missing a KMI like an obvious red card within the first 10 minutes means that in the eyes of the observer, everything you've said is pretty much irrelevant!

I'm not so sure it's entirely the referee's fault though. Of course you could argue that he should've had a better trailing eye, but the ball's kicked quite long so he could've missed an offence on the ball. In a way, it could be better if he completely missed it, rather than saw it a bit and couldn't see the full force of it, as that would mean he can get properly dealt with (I'm not too sure on the retrospective action process though, so that might not be true - I've always thought that if the referee sees it and takes no action, no retrospective action is taken, whereas if it's been missed, retrospective action can be taken)

This is why I always ask the trailing AR and/or fourth official (if I have one) to help keep an eye on late items like this. If the ball is played direct and long, I’m going to be in full sprint to get in position for the next play. My trail assistant needs to help me for this.
