Pep only warned...

The FA couldn't do anything other than warn him as the match officials took no action.

For me I don't like to see the referee coming over for a chat / warning when there is a 4th official, certainly not when the 4th official is one of the most experienced referees in the country and a FIFA Elite referee until very recently. I'm supportive of this when there is no 4th man and the senior AR is getting it in the neck, but at this level the 4th official needs to manage it himself and if it goes beyond his tolerance level the offender should be getting removed, not spoken to.

I have long said at the top leagues, the 4th should be able to dismiss the coaches if required. No fuss needed, no stopping game, no bringing ref over, just 4th to say "remove yourself from the tech area please"
not quite as good for the cameras I confess.

I only ever removed one manager, I actually did it twice in the same game as he returned wearing a different Parker type coat with the hood up... Funny now as I look back, we've clashed a few times since as well on another forum. He got a proper Pep talk to disappear the second time!

Agree completely. I suspect that this incident ran into a difference in tolerance between the ref and the 4th - Atkinson as a ref likes to let his cards do the talking and while I don't know Taylor's record, if he's a bit more inclined to "manage", he might have asked what was said and decided that in his mind it was only worth a last warning. I noticed that when he was called over, they had another long chat before Taylor talked to the manager - again, you don't feel as if it would be necessary to add to what was said over comms if the 4th and ref agreed on the required action?

Into two pages? Gosh. Pep gets cross and has a wardrobe malfunction and you think it merits dismissal.

Nothing about Klopp going on the FoP?

It all looked a bit messy, Atkinson and Taylor were both talking to Pep at the same time...

Yes and throughout it all, Pep didn't stop talking, he didn't listen to anything they said to him. It was all pointless. They should have just binned him.

It wasn't the scarf throwing though. It was yelling and pointing in Atkinson's face that annoyed most of us.
