Hello all,

I'm interested in hearing the opinions on 3 beeper flags.

First one is the ervocom's- obviously one of the best from what I've read yet very pricey.
Second is the signal bip- Less pricey but not sure how great... Don't have too much experience with them either.
The third is the RefsCall- Have heard good and bad about these but would like a bit more info.

FYI, I am in the states and mainly do high-level youth as both a center and AR.

Also, if anyone is willing to part with their Ervocom's or SignalBip I'm willing to pay for the international shipping on top of the price!

The Referee Store
Can you not get touchlines? If you're comparing the other two you are wasting your time as they just arent comparable.

I think touchlines would fall under the same category as the ervo’s. The highest quality but also the highest price. I’m not exactly fond on spending $700 (£550 ish) for flags, but I’d more consider it if they are really that much better than signalbip or the refs-call. Like I said before I’m not doing semi-pro/pro, primarily high level youth.

My personal preference is the ervocoms, not just because I sell them, just prefer the feel of the flags in my hand and find the receiver more comfortable to wear. Refscall and signal bip just don’t compare in my opinion. Most people i know who have bought the refs calls have not owned them for long and wanted to upgrade pretty quickly

If you order from A and h they deduct tax, as its going international. So you are looking at around £380.
Obviously you are responsible to pay the taxes in your region but the touch lines retail at around £75 less than ervos.
I am also obliged to tell you @Ross sells ervos on refsworld.co.uk.. :)

As an AR I still prefer touchlines. I ways end up standing on ervocom flags and yet to meet a ref whose ervocom buttons arent broken.

Do they buzz on the armband?

Just looked on A&H. Including shipping to the U.S., the touchlines would be about $550 (£417.00). Definitely a much better price than what's offered in the U.S. but still a hefty bill nevertheless.

Makes sense, you get what you pay for. Right now Official Sports U.S. is having a sale on the RefsCall for $199 (Roughly £150), Makes it a bit more enticing but I've heard so many positives and negatives (A bit more negative I'd say...) that I'm pretty conflicted.

Regardless of the price or the quality or the sound level, people, esp ambitious young referees over look the most important thing

whatever set of flags you purchase are only ever as good as the folk who use them.......

Yes, the main purpose of electronic flags is to let the center know. Every beeper flag armband has the option for sound, vibrate or both of them combined.

Cheers, I had some old ones way back when that had trouble buzzing. :( Anyway something for me to think about in the future. :)

Waste of money unless you are in the professional game.......

Learn the craft properly instead of relying on gadgets.

I think thats the only thing you have ever posted that I could not agree on any more if i tried !!
If i was boss of worldwide refereeing I would prohibit them until pro level, even then, I be like, meh

Happens whole time, AR buzzes/flags but ref is oblivious to it/batteries dead/cant hear them (if thats the setting used) or whatever......the chat after will be "sorry my arm never buzzed", its as lame and shabby as you get and stinks of neglect
Well sir, had you LOOKED at the AR then your problems would have been solved......no fancy watches, flag, comms needed, just mental awareness and, erm, eyes

Haha, while I agree to an extent, one of the reasons I considered them as I went up the ladder is because of the communication purposes. The buzzer would be an effective way of getting my attention, seeing as shouting etc would have no effect. :D

I dont mean to sound discriminatory against anyone unfortunate enough to have a serious issue, but, you dont have eyes???

Lol, I do, but I mean for those situations where if something kicks off behind me etc, then it's likely quicker to get my attention with the buzzer, stuff like that mostly.

Admittedly, I've yet to encounter a situation with ARs where I've needed that feature so far. :)

I accept their uses and benefits and I have a set so I sound hypocritical i know

I restrict myself now though to using them in closed door/bounce games, more as a novelty to the ARs than to me, a practice tool rather than an essential

I maintain your flag are only as good as the folk using them and nothing substitutes for awareness and eyes

I bare look at ARs when not using buzzers as it is, so to use buzzers means I am in a terrible habit of looking across even less!!
