...er hang on... the half time replay shows Di Maria doing the classic self-trip by clipping his own ankle as the defender moves across his behind. This looks like an outrageous bit of gamesmanship to me. Is there an angle that shows it was an actual foul?
 
Thoughts on ARG defender high foot in the penalty area against NIG attacker? Got the ball then caught attackers head on way down, referee let play continue.

No chance Santa, he was touched it wasn’t simulation he was about to get a shot away.

How high was it? If it was legitimate kicking height and the attacker ducked into it, then no foul could be the correct decision

Foolish play by mascherano. Poor game by him all day. Several bad give aways by him that Nigeria has not capitalized upon. He finally cost them. Clearly holding attacker by bicep and pulling on opposite side of attacker at waist. Dumb play. Easy spot by CR

His foot was over the head of a standing player, came down after he got the ball and caught that player slightly
 
Surprised nobody has noticed the blood. Very obvious. Although I'm rooting for Argentina, I've wanted to kick Mascherano in the head myself too
