Anyone watching. Huddersfield led 2-0 with 10 to go. Dreadful pen decision and now it’s 2-2 with 5 to go. Everyone else’s thoughts on the pen. I’ll try find a clip

Very harsh at first.
My first impression (and still same opinion) was that the attacker ducked his head.
But the defender didn't even touch him or even endanger him.

Yeh when I first saw him I was scoffing because defender ducked down.

Then the replay showed how far away he was from him and it’s a joke. Pathetic from the West Brom player but he won his team a pen so he won’t be complaining
 
The pitfalls of looking down the barrel of the gun instead of getting an angle

From the referees view, that will look like a foul, he has no angle, and, the key to getting correct decisions in football is to get an angle

what you see side on, is different to what you see looking straight on

much same as centre half and centre forward jostling for high punts, straight on, you dont know who has pulled or pushed who, side on, you see the true story

back to the clip, I would have settled for a idfk to WBA.

if you stop the clip on 1.06, there is enough for dangerous ( without contact)
 
Typically, the Referee took the stick for this KMD, but it was the West Brom player who did the cheating 😏
BTW, an IDFK for PIADM might have been apt, but that's another page of the book which may as well be torn out, cos such a restart doesn't exist

Ref too static, has not helped himself, even bouncing three, four yards, to his left, after the first kick, he gets a great view.
Instead he is reduced to guessing, and I agree, it was never going to be an idfk
