Great game for him today!
And looking promising this year for Liverpool ;) (no bias at all)
Chelsea game was like watching paint dry though :(

Mourinho was playing for a nil-nil draw. That's harsh on the Chelsea fans who have taken time off work and spent a lot of money going to watch them. For me, that's just plain disrespectful. That's why I like Phil Brown (even before he managed Southend) because he acknowledges that it's the fans who sign the pay cheques - hence the onfield team talk.

Liverpool had the chances. Just didn't happen today.

Mourinho has taken being lucky and added a tactical slant to it. Park the bus, hope for the best. And he gets away with it more often than not. Guys a genius.

I know it's not going to happen but I really wanted Liverpool to win the league. Not because like Liverpool, but because they're not Man City or Chelsea.

You often complain about City on here @Southend-ref, what exactly is your problem? You're perfectly entitled to dislike a club, but I'm genuinely interested…..

I hate Jose with a passion, but he finds a way to win. It isn't pretty, and I certainly wouldn't want to watch it every week, but it works time and time again. You have to respect him for that.

I have respect for genuine City fans, who supported them before he takeover, but now they are just like Chelsea.

I see where you're coming from, but City and Chelsea are two very different clubs with very different philosophies. Our owners, regardless of all this FFP nonsense, are investing millions into the local area and working to become sustainable in the future. I get that people resent the money, but we got very lucky, the takeover was what every fan dreams of. In terms of match going fans, out average attendance has only increased by about 300 since the takeover and I like to think that the club has maintained its family feel. I, like many others, am loving every minute of this and although success invariably brings with it an influx of 'plastics', the majority of fans remain the same. We still sing about staying up when we reach forty points and I hope that never changes.

Fair enough, the fans who turn up to the games may be real fans, but in terms of the number of people across the country who claim to be City fans I think that it's very much increased. Any trophy which you claim to win has been bought in just the same way as Chelsea buy their trophies - can you deny that?

Unfortunately that's the reality of modern football. In order to be successful you have to spend money which ultimately equates to buying success in the eyes of many. Every successful team has to spend money. This is actually where my problem with FFP lies; it stops somebody coming in and pumping money into a club, which, when done in the right way is good for football IMO. We got everything that we've ever wanted when our owners came in and I don't think UEFA should prevent that happening again. FFP is designed to maintain the status quo, self-interested nonsense.

@Matthew - I thought City avoided FFP rules by regarding all money spent at the club as sponsorship payment (your owner also owns Etihad - right?)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27198306

He's part of the royal family and Etihad is the national airline, so he does have a stake, but is not the owner. The sponsorship of a club is worth what the company deems it to be worth, not what UEFA value it at. I don't know all the ins and outs, but I suspect that many sponsorship deals for the big clubs are linked to the owners. An example of this being Liverpool; John Henry has a stake in New Balance, which their shirt maker, warrior, is an subsidiary of. That's just how it is.

btw there is a certain irony that Man City run around with 'Etihad' on their chests, which is Arabic for 'United' :D

It translates directly to unity, actually! :D

Hard though it is for me as a red, I can't begrudge City their success, and if it came down to it, I'd rather they win it than Liverpool or Chelski - 'cos I'm still a Manc.

At least City are exciting to watch, good, pacey attack-minded football with the occasional lapse from Kompany to add a bit of spice. Liverpool, not much to shout about except Suarez & Sturridge, Chelski are managed by Jo Mo - 'nuff said!
