Velcro/tape badge fixings

Does anyone have any advice around the best way to fix a badge to my shirts? I’ve got a few new shirts on the way and though about just buying 1 of each badge and then use them on different shirts with Velcro or something similar.
My wife and myself are worse than useless with a sewing kit!

Do the Velcro strips work ok? Do they come off in the wash?
Any other methods people use?

Velcro worked ok for me - but I was switching between county badge, RA badge and NCEL badges on a weekly basis. This was before FAMAO came out.

But you needs three pieces of Velcro at angles to make sure it didn't come off.
 
Tried double sided tape but forgot to take it off a couple of times and it messed up the shirt and the rest of the washing. Use velcro but put the "fluffy" side on your shirt. 4 or 5 stitches on each strip of velcro (and as @lincs22 says, use 3 parts) keeps it in place.

To be honest I found the whole "wear the right badge for the competition" something to be consigned to the bin along with wearing blazers.

I'm lazy. I'd just buy two shirts with different badges
 
I’ve order one kit with both badges on but I’m thinking for future kits I might give Velcro strips a try and save pennies on embroidery!! There’s some nice kits about online that don’t give the option!
