Restart - Breaking from Wall

Hi All,

Just after some clarification. Could you confirm the right course of action:

Example below:

Foul in final third of the field and attacking free kick given. Wall is walked out and whistle blown. As kick is taken, defender breaks from the wall and blocks the shot from little over a few yards away. Played was booked (failing to respect the required distance?) and free kick retaken.

Was this the correct and was the restart correct or should it have been an indirect free kick restart from the point of interference?

Apologies but never come across this one before?

Correct. The free kick is retaken.

As @JamesL says, you are correct. If you want the actual wording, Law 13 says:

If, when a free kick is taken, an opponent is closer to the ball than the required distance, the kick is retaken unless the advantage can be applied ...
