Hi all,

Just finished Graham Poll's autobiography "Seeing Red" (which I would really recommend), and I was wondering if there was any other's out there worth reading?

If you can hang on for 12 years, I'm sure Mark Halsey's book "The Referee" will be a good read.

According to Waterstones, the release date is 31 December, 2025!

Alan Wilkies book 'One night at the Palace' very interesting read, especially the Eric Cantona 'Kung Foo' kick incident.

Mark's book was due for release a couple of weeks ago.
However, it's currently been postponed as PGMOL/EPL/FA are considering suing/taking to court for possible slanderous comments and a potential breach of contract.
Until this is resolved, the book cannot be released!

Read and recommend the following

Pat Partridge - Oh Ref!
David Elleray - Referee! and The Man in the Middle
Pierluigi Collina - The Rules of the Game
Graham Poll - Seeing Red (I received 3 copies of this as a present about a year after I bought my own copy)
Alan Wilkie - One Night at the Palace

I would recommend Jeff Winter's to read alongside Graham Poll's. They are two very different guys who refereed in very similar era's of English football, and it is very interesting to compare and contrast their thoughts.

I've finished David Ellaray's Man in the Middle, which is ok, but really very dry and devoid of any personal touches commonly seen in autobiographies. Pretty much a 300 page rant about his refereeing and his work career. I've heard the same about Collina's but can't comment as I've not read it.

There is another thread elsewhere in this forum which I can't find right now regarding refereeing literature.
