Recommencing a game after abandonment

The avuncular one
Question put to me yesterday. Scenario: bad tempered game. Crowd are causing issues and several players have been sent off.

The ref gets into an argument with the crowd and clearly indicates the match abandoned. Nobody is in doubt the match has been abandoned.

A couple of minutes later he changes his mind and finishes game. Ignoring all the other obvious issues, can you recommece an abandoned match like this?

The Ref Stop
Once the referee abandoned the match, the decision isn't his to make any more. It's in the hands of the competition authorities.

It's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'ere lies the match resting in peace! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!

I've just seen who the ref was as well :/ I won't name him, that would be a little harsh.

No I just checked the Welsh League Appointments and looked for your name (At least who I think you are) and had a look who the ref was

Haha! You did get my name right in a previous thread. You didnt need the guess work, you could have just asked me, I would have told you! :D there is another fellow with exactly the same name also refereeing within West Wales though.

It was a local league game this hapened in. Lone ref. I only have a spectator on that days view of what happened, and while he did not know the name of the ref in question it was easy to work out who it was. Will ask the ref when i see him as it is likely what actually happened may not be exactly as reported! Spectator gave me the scenario and asked if it was okay to restart after the abandonment. I was thinking "nope, monumental balls up" but in the name of brotherly solidarity gave a vague "it's difficult to judge such things unless your right there and you see and hear it all for yourself". Rule one: don't criticise your colleagues in black to jimmy public.

Just wanted to confirm what I thought was correct on here.

ah ok, thought you were on about the game you were on last night with DB, was thinking that he wouldn't do that.
