The Ref Stop

OFFINABUS

I had an interesting game today between white and green. The first half was played without incident apart from warning white captain that any further fouls may result in a cauion.

Then the second half got underway 15 minutes in the CAR IMO correctly flags for an offside which I gave. Cue the abuse player A from green says "Are you f***ing for real." I had 5 minutes earlier warned him about his language towards me who clearly doesnt listen and takes an early bath.

I restart the game with an IDFK for the offside I then hear player B from green shout from his goal area to the half way line "Ref your a f***ing joke." about 5 seconds after he says it the ball crosses the line for a thrown in. I pause the game and susequently send player B from the FOP.

The rest of the game carries on as normal white captain gets his caution as he correctly predicts at halftime to his team mates due to him holding onto the opposing players shirt. 5 minutes from the end player C (white) makes a challenge with his foot raised earning him a caution for USB. Cue player D (green) argueing that he shouldnt be cautioned for the challenge.

The game ended 3-0 to white.

One last question to end on. If the ball hadnt crossed the line after player B shouts the abuse, how is play restarted with an IDFK is it from where player B was or where the ball is when I stop play?

Where the player is, I believe.

Sounds like quite a few of us had tough game situations this week! Must be the weather changing!

I think its from where the offending player was who got carded. If the abuse happened before the ball went out, you might even be able to sell the IDFK anyway.

I'm with Supermonkey and Mick, I believe you restart where the carded player was on the pitch! Definitely something in the air this weekend!

I had my first red card this weekend as well! Definitely something in the air!
What was yours for? Thankful to say I didn't have any cards this weekend!

Not yesterday but it f*****g chucked it down during my academy game, got a bugger of a cold now :(

Qualified in January this year and managed to go half a season without ever having to take a red card out. So no prizes for guessing what happened in my first open age game of the season yesterday...

"Honestly ref, I was calling the player behind you a f***ing d***head"
Didn't help his cause that he then sarcastically applauded me (whilst handing over his captain's armband, would you believe?) before leaving the pitch

Thanks for the replies, definitely know what to do next time :). I only had 1 red all season last year I've had 3 in 4 games this year all for offinabus

I had one off this weekend just gone for OFFINABUS worst thing was if he had of kept his mouth shut he would of had a caution for dissent. But when the F word and your S ref came out it quickly changed to red.
Its the second time I have sent this player off this season, its only 5 games in

I had a great game Sunday , well up to 85 mins no incidents of note the. What happens.....3 yes 3 red cards and 4 yellows in the last 5 mins. My Sunday evening spent doing reports. Lovely

It's funny you mention captains being sent off above, I have added to my prematch speech that I expect the captains to set an example of expected behaviour and sportsmanship on the pitch (as well as expecting their support in maintaining such amongst their team) and if they fail to live up to my expectation as captain they can expect little sympathy or patience from me towards their behaviour.

Really irritates me when the team captain is the biggest idiot in the team.

How else to they end up with the arm-band?

I was under the impression you become Captain because the Coach is sick to freakin death of you moaning and whingeing and he hopes it'll shut you up for a bit!

"Here ya go son, have a nice stretchy bit of brightly coloured material to wear for this game because you're special and, look!......It's got letters and words round it too.....that's it put round your ar......no your ARM! Your ARM for god's sake!"

You might consider adjusting your tolerance on OFFINABUS since you've sent two players off for what I would consider relatively limited offenses.
