Notts County v Colchester

Watching the highlights of last night's game and both Notts' 2nd yellows and subsequent red cards seem slightly harsh. The video doesn't show the first yellows but I have read that they were both justified.

Incidents start at around 0:52.

The first doesn't look like much contact is made, not reckless and there is no apparent attack from Colchester IMO.
On the second the referee blows as he is shooting and his whistle is feeble for the offside.

Thoughts?

P.S. I'm a Notts County fan

Clear caution for a tactical foul breaking up a promising attack. Player can have no complaints.

The second sending off is perhaps overly harsh. Common sense might have been better employed.
