I guess that Gibbs will have his red rescinded, but will Ox-C be given one retrospectively?
I would guess so. Especially as Ox clearly went up to the ref after he sent Gibbs off and can be seen saying "ref, it was me". Assistant talking to Arsene Wenger seemed to agree but bottled telling the ref, I think.

He's also just allowed Vermalaen to come on as a sub and immediately take a throw-in. A players' first action in the match after being subbed on cannot be taking a corner or throw.

That's wrong. I was told by a level 4 referee who was an instructor that a substitute cannot take a throw or a corner if it's their first action in the match. It would be okay for them to be subbed on, have a team mate take a shot and win a corner and then take it, but if they are subbed on at that break in play then they cannot take the throw/corner. It's in the rule book somewhere too (although I don't have the magic book right now), unless the rule has been removed in the last year. It was there to stop players from bringing on throwing/corner "specialists" specifically for that purpose. A stupid rule albeit IMO, but still a rule. I remember specifically reading it as they explained to us.

Happened to Preston earlier in the season - wrong man sent off, red card rescinded, right man banned.
The interesting thing in this case might be if the video shows the ball wasn't going into the net. Can they really give a player a retrospective red card for DOGSO when it wasn't even going to be a goal?
As for subs immediately taking throws/corners, the interpretation of Law 3 states:

I never trust MOTD pundits on refereeing but on this one I really don't know. They were saying that he cannot change his mind (i.e. say sorry lads, and then send of AOC instead). Is this correct that you can't change this - what would you do if you sent a player off and then someone told you it was them? You sound like a d*ckhead if you don't change it but they could do it tactically if their best player is the perpetrator and their worst player said it was them.
